Shebbear Community School Curriculum

RE Vision

We believe in providing children with the opportunity to learn about a variety of world religions so that they become a better, informed citizen.

The key purpose of RE at Shebbear Community School is to:

*Make sense of a range of religious and non-religious world views.

*Understand the impact and significance of religious and non-religious worldviews.

*Make connections between religious and non-religious worldviews, concepts, practices and ideas studied.

By the end of year six we want all children to be able to:

  • Visit a Christian place of worship each year
  • Visit a place of worship from another faith e.g. Mosque in Exeter or/and Synagogue in Exeter
  • Children to have attended a service at the Church and the Chapel in Shebbear village.
  • Have assemblies linked to units but also times of year e.g. Ramadan.
  • Had visitors from a variety of faiths and non- faiths visit assemblies.
  • Have a good understanding of a range of World religions including Christianity.
  • Help the children consider their own faith and beliefs.

Our RE Curriculum builds skills, knowledge and behaviours to give children a secure foundation in the subject.
